Nyakagoma

Before 2017 this community in the hills above Bugarama had only a nursery school for its youngest children in a shockingly decrepit building. After nursery all the children had a long trek every day to the nearest primary school on a dangerous, busy road. In 2017 Jersey Overseas Aid helped us to build a brand-new school with nursery and classrooms for Primary 1-3. Subsequently, we have added new classrooms, including a two-storey extension. Nyakagoma is now a fully functioning primary school and also has three secondary classes, S1-S3. In 2022 Nyakagoma Primary took national Exams for the first time. All students passed and 5 were admitted to boarding school. An excellent start for the school. We look forward to visiting them again soon and celebrating their success.
